Rest in My Presence

Winter holidays have come round once more
to the Southern corner of America.
God is always inviting us to rest in his presence,
in his perfect timing,
in his strength.

Isaiah 30:15
"In returning to me and resting you will be saved;
in quietness and trust shall be your strength".

God is calling us to trust him,
to lean on his everlasting arms.

Sixteen months ago my beloved Father
was awaiting his call to heaven
at a very good Clinic.
We did not know when it would be,
but it was imminent.

His digestive system did not function any more.
He had cancer, a pancreatic tumor
that could not be operated
'cause it was hugging a main artery.

He was very slim
and he wanted to be with us
as much as possible
before saying good-byes.

I would come visit with him every other day.
Then I had to go back to school to teach my classes.

As I was riding my car,
leaving the Clinic behind,
my heart was aching.
I did not know how long he would be with us.
Then God spoke to me:
"Your daddy's times are in my hands".

So as I was able to trust God
with my Dad's precious life,
I found rest.

I could not change my circumstances,
nor the fact that Dad was leaving us soon,
but I could rest in God's love and care over us.

"Father, we thank you for your loving care
over each one of your children today;
We come to you.
We trust you in all our circumstances.
We find strength in your presence.
Amen".
